6 Tips for Extroverts to Kill it at the MBA Tour

Kofi Kankam
As extroverts, we are outgoing and great in social situations, but can sometimes be perceived as over-expressive or totally flaky. Fear not, though: when it comes to the MBA Tour, this could be an extroverts time to shine! Here's how:

Tip #1: Don’t wing it…make a plan!

Before joining us at the MBA Tour, take a look at the list of school representatives, guest panelists and application workshops. Make a list of all the schools you may be interested in and workshops you’d like to attend. From there, do your research about the specific school and program and come up with a list of questions or conversation starters. From there, you can best allocate your energy to the places and people you really want to talk to—and let your extroverted personality do the rest!

Tip #2: Don’t talk too much, or absorb all of the representative’s time.

Don’t get me wrong, extroverts, your questions are important, but stay vigilant about the other applicants waiting to speak to reps at the table. Remember, at the MBA Tour it’s all about quality over quantity: if you can walk away having made a few genuine connections, it’s better than making a lot of surface impressions with reps.

Tip #3: Don’t leave resumes without explicitly being asked.

Extroverts, we’re super excited to read your resumes during our free 1-on-1 consultations at every MBA tour—but don’t force us to take your resume. 9 times out of 10 they’re going to be lost in the shuffle. If you’re interested in continuing a conversation with a school, ask for a representative’s business card, and stay in touch via email or social media.

Tip #4: Don’t arrive to MBA tour super-early or stay super-late as the reps are trying to get setup or leave.

We’re super excited to talk to you and get to know you, but...

Tip #5: Be sure to network with other applicants around you.

It’s not just about the representatives you’ll meet. When you’re going through the same MBA admissions process, having a strong network where you can share tips and experiences is crucial. Who knows--maybe when you land the seat at your dream school you’ll already know a classmate!

Tip #6: Be sure to dress for success.

We get it, you want to stand out as a strong, independent extrovert...but if you want to be taken seriously as a future MBA student-- You’ll just have to leave the snazzy outfits to the Admit.me team.

We wish you the best of luck, extroverts. See you at the next MBA tour! Be sure to swing by and say hi to your favorite team. And remember...Never Apply Alone!

Respectfully,

Admit.me Extroverts
