What is the best volunteering activity on an application?
Should I volunteer at a clinic or at a large hospital? I could volunteer at a hospital that has about a 6 hour per week time commitment. My other option is to volunteer at a smaller clinic four about four hours per week. Which is better for medical school?

Important aspects of volunteering are to gain experience, learn what it might take to be a physician, practice empathy and compassion, etc. Work where you'll get the best experience - allowable patient and provider interaction is much more important that a fancy hospital name or more hours. You need enough hours to demonstration dedication. You need enough of a positive experience for it to teach you something and to be able to speak about it on your application and during interviews. So, as an extreme example, it would not be valuable to spend 300 hours volunteering in the gift shop of the best hospital in the world.
