anonymous Regarding Category: MBA For those of you who have initially scored low on the GMAT and successfully scored high 600s to low 700s on subsequent attempts, what was your strategy? What were the things that you did to improve your score? {{ 1417073193320+1-1 | date : 'short' }} my anonymous likes this Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn All Replies User Picks
Kofi Kankam expert Hi David - l would recommend breaking down the material in terms of specific areas in which you can study - i.e. data sufficiency, sentence correction, etc...Drill on those specific areas and then put together the entire quant or verbal section itself. {{ 1417186126727+1-1 | date : 'short' }} my anonymous , anonymous like this Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn

Joe El Rady expert Hi David. I agree with Kofi, you need to build specific skill areas that will then sum to performance test-wide. Also, I recommend learning and practicing technique. Having a toolbox of techniques upon which you can rely on test day transforms the experience. {{ 1417417505915+1-1 | date : 'short' }} my anonymous likes this Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn
anonymous I'm actually dealing with this exact same situation right now. Scored a 600 on the real GMAT (while I scored as high as 690 on practice exams). Since I'm applying to schools during Round 2 of this year (I'm 31, and I'm feeling some serious time pressure to apply this year), I've hired a tutor to help pinpoint my weaknesses. Additionally, I'm working through a month-long subscription of a service called "Target Test Prep" and am working through their problem sets on Quant to help shore up my weaker areas on Q. I am using data from these quant practice questions to identify topical Quant weaknesses (geometry questions, number prop questions, etc) and then will spend time improving upon my weakest areas with the help of a tutor. {{ 1417454514410+1-1 | date : 'short' }} Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn
Kofi Kankam expert SA - That's a good call to make that kind of investment b/c a low GMAT score can definitely be a hindrance. Let me know how things go with Target Test Prep. What kinds of schools are you targeting? {{ 1417454930991+1-1 | date : 'short' }} Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn
