I am tired
I have been looking and applying for Educational Media Specialist(Librarian) jobs for the past two years and still no job. I want to get an Educational Technology Masters Degree before I attend Rutgers University School of Library and Information Science program. Lately I have been reading about my profession, and found out that some school districts are cutting back on funds; which means they are getting rid of school librarians. This news article is making me scared, so I decided to get a Human Resource Master Degree from DeVry University , get a MLIS Degree from Rutgers University and then get an Educational Technology Degree. What do you think I should do? I need a career.
P.S. I am a certified Educational Media Specialist in the state of New Jersey.

- Kofi Kankam expert Hi Terrialynn - there is good news here. You are thinking critically about this step which is fantastic. I suggest that you start from the end: What is the end goal? Once you have an idea of what you want your career to be, you will then be positioned to take the next step: What did the people who arrived in that position (potentially a librarian) do to get there? If you can trace specific academic steps, I would then look at some potential organizations (like DeVry and Rutgers) to see how they place people in that industry. And then, make your move. My guess is tat you don't need all degrees and will incur quite a bit of expense to do so. I would likely lean towards not doing the DeVry degree but strongly consider the other ones. Do you research and then repost and I'll re-comment. Or post a note to me directly. Take some rest and don't let the stress of the decision pull you down. I think there is a lot of information out there to ensure you're not making a decision in the dark. Keep the faith, Kof {{ 1428693887457+1-1 | date : 'short' }}
