anonymous Hi! I am planning to apply for graduate studies (PhD) in fall 2016. I will be giving GRE in august. My Major is Physics. Can anyone give me heads up regarding schools to apply? Thanks #University {{ 1430250726458+1-1 | date : 'short' }} university Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn All Replies User Picks
Kofi Kankam expert Hi Pratyush - we need way more information from you in terms of your grades, what you want to study (within Physics), your test scores, etc...Please fill out your profile so that we can help you! {{ 1430274218425+1-1 | date : 'short' }} Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn
anonymous alum One thing that I am hoping that you are aware of is that for most graduate programs the applications are going to be due as early as the first few days of December 2015 (One of my deadlines for application is December 5, 2015). So be sure that you look at when you application deadline is in combination with when you want to start. {{ 1430973615096+1-1 | date : 'short' }} Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn
Kofi Kankam expert That's a good point, Jeffrey. The deadlines do sneak up quickly. {{ 1431033214065+1-1 | date : 'short' }} Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn
anonymous Hello Pratyush. I suggest you consider George Mason University also for application for Physics. I have been in touch with some professors from IIT Bombay and they have all given positive reviews for physics at GMU. However, this is a broader opinion I have given. Another factor to consider in shortlisting would be an area of specialization for your PhD viz. nanotechnology, materials sciences. All the best {{ 1431237920859+1-1 | date : 'short' }} Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn
Kofi Kankam expert George Washington in DC is a really good program. but, my points still stands in terms of knowing the various items that you are seeking in a PhD program as well as a bit more on your background. I would definitely consider what areas in which you want to study and pegging that to professors at various programs. {{ 1431284234165+1-1 | date : 'short' }} my anonymous likes this Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn
anonymous I agree with Kofi Kankam. Talking to professors from the departments of your interest also increases the acceptance chances. Read their interests on the website, read their papers and publications that are accessible and talk to them about your interests too. {{ 1431343207126+1-1 | date : 'short' }} Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn
