Hi! I am planning to apply for graduate studies (PhD) in fall 2016. I will be giving GRE in august (I hope to get around 325). My Major is Geology. Can anyone give me heads up regarding schools to apply? Thanks :)

- Eric Allen expert What area of the world are you thinking? Lots of rocks out there on which to perch!!! If you can give me an idea of that, I may be able to help you with school selection a bit. {{ 1429306344063+1-1 | date : 'short' }}

- Kofi Kankam expert I think you need to narrow down your options a bit by thinking about school size, where you wish to work when you're done with school, who you want to study under. PhD programs specifically are driven by professor research and publishing. Determine those three items and you'll have a better chance of isolating what is a good fit for you. You also need to consider how you performed academically in school. From your profile it looks like you have Stanford, Berkeley, and Michigan as some of your top choices. I would love to see a higher GRE score b/c those schools are tough. What level in your class does your GPA position you? {{ 1429533171726+1-1 | date : 'short' }}

- anonymous thanks for the reply. My gpa is not very great(it is 3/4) but I have decent research projects and I hope to get a research paper published in a few months. I still have one year before applying so can you suggest how to strengthen my profile? {{ 1429611463011+1-1 | date : 'short' }}
