GRE score feedback
My GRE score is 324/340 (Quant: 170, Verbal: 154, AWA: 4.0). Do I need to retake the exam due to verbal and AWA score (desired field for masters is Electrical and computer engineering)?
Secondly, I gave GRE last month. Will it be valid for application for fall 2018 or 2019?
- Eric Allen expert @himanshu thanks for the post and congratulations on your GRE score (perfect quant!). Clearly, there is a strength in quant and there will be some concern around your Verbal score. Generally, I would say that you don't HAVE to re-take, but getting a higher verbal score could help you a bit, especially for the target schools you listed in your profile. That being said, you could only stay the same or go down in quant, so there is a risk of taking it again as well. Part of it depends on how strong your written application is and your TOEFL score. Shoot for a TOEFL > 100 and you should be fine. The test is good for 5 yrs, so your fine on timing.
- anonymous Thank you @Eric Allen for the reply. However, I would like to know whether my AWA score will hurt my overall GRE score.
- Eric Allen expert So...right. Sorry about that. AWA score is fine. Not great, but certainly within the realm of acceptance. If you got a 6, it would be quite unexpected given your verbal score, to be completely honest.
