College talk
#University hi I'm currently a student in Rwanda finishing in November. I study all the sciences, math, phy, chem, bio and I'm okay in French and strong in English. I want to study computer sciences and my financial situation is poor. I did my a levels in Cambridge and I'm doing national examinations soon. My top schools are Toronto U, Carleton U, Berkeley, universities of Texas,Austin. These are not cheap, obviously, so what can I do to have chance and to stand out? Or any scholarship chances, if any available.

Good question. Looking at your profile you're doing some teaching to students in Rwanda, which is always a good thing. In addition to finishing strong academically, you definitely want to show the admissions committee leadership in the community. Finally, finishing strong on your ACT/SAT scores will be a huge differentiator for you as well. When you write your essays, think about the factors you bring to the table that make you unique (and are supportable) and write about that. Think about your passion, dreams and how college/that school will get you where you want to go.
In terms of money, a few things. 1. Some of the most competitive schools can give you the most money (i.e. Harvard can pay for your way in if you get in). and 2. There are scholarships out there. Check scholarship websites out there. Finally, we have a scholarship that we recently launched: www.admit.me/en/scholarship
Hope that helps. #undergrad #university #scholarship

- Savena Wright expert Many colleges in the US will require either the SAT or ACT (often interchangeably). One thing to consider regarding scholarships/financial aid: many schools will have less financial aid, if any, for international students. You mat want to consider applying for private scholarships that do not have a US residency requirement as well as target some lesser known schools that are working hard to increase their international population. This may work in your favor for merit- and need-based aid consideration. Best of luck! {{ 1438135455262+1-1 | date : 'short' }} my Eric Allen likes this
