anonymous alum are high GPAs absolutely necessary for getting into any college #University {{ 1429020271940+1-1 | date : 'short' }} my anonymous likes this university Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn All Replies User Picks
Kofi Kankam expert They're not absolutely necessary, but they do make a big difference. It does depend on the quality of the institution. Typically at selective universities, candidates have to to have done reasonably well in their prior studies - top 30% at a minimum. {{ 1429153312534+1-1 | date : 'short' }} my Eric Allen likes this Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn
anonymous alum Mr kankam i am from india and here we have a 10 point GPA system and my is around 7.7..can u speculate as to whether i can get into a godd top 50 college in the US {{ 1429681957180+1-1 | date : 'short' }} Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn
Kofi Kankam expert Hi Sayok - the programs will try to get a feel for your class rank. If you are basically in the top 25% of your class (which I think a 7.7 is), then you are in good shape with regard to your grades. But, you need to also focus on other items like your activities and your test scores. {{ 1429711976323+1-1 | date : 'short' }} my Eric Allen , anonymous like this Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn
Eric Allen expert Also, you may want to try the WES grade conversion tool. Sometimes it's a bit off - every school has their own system, but it generally gives you directionally-correct information. https://www.wes.org/gradeconversionguide/

anonymous alum thanks to both mr kankam and mr Allen...just one more question...trying to get into a top 50 college ...do i need to have publications for that /what is the standard GRE score i need to get in order to get into these colleges {{ 1430126776410+1-1 | date : 'short' }} Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn
Eric Allen expert Not EXACTLY sure about your question, but I will give it a try. Each school usually publishes a GRE average or a middle 50% range for GRE , so you should be able to find the score on their site. Other resources include US News and World Report, Bloomberg Business Week, FT.com. {{ 1430135652879+1-1 | date : 'short' }} Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn
anonymous alum i know it varies from program to program ..but i want to know score for biomedical engineering from any top 50 college ....also does UG institute matter ..i am from jadavpur university... {{ 1430142611811+1-1 | date : 'short' }} Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn
Kofi Kankam expert Sayok - those averages vary for the top 50 biomedical engineering programs. You should take a look at the individual programs. Undergrad matters a bit, but as long as you have done well (which you have), you will have a shot. {{ 1430145541007+1-1 | date : 'short' }} my anonymous likes this Share Facebook Twitter LinkedIn
