Application time frame?
Can you please provide the life-cycle of the application process and what it fully entails?
- Jennie Rothman expert Law schools typically release their applications in August or September and consider applications as they are received. Even though most law schools have a submission deadline in January or February, there is a real advantage to submitting your application earlier in the cycle. At a minimum, you should aim to get your application in by Jan. 1. Of course, that just considers the application itself. You'll also need to take the LSAT, of course. Most schools want you to take the exam no later than December for admission the following fall. However, it could be wise to take it earlier that year (February, June, October) to give yourself a chance to repeat it if necessary. Remember, you can only take the LSAT 3 times in a 2-year period. In addition to the LSAT and the application forms, you'll need to submit a personal statement and get 1-3 letters of recommendation. Hope that helps!
- anonymous alum Thanks, Jennie, I think that is a very helpful guide. I also want to add that you should give yourself several months, if possible, to prepare for the LSAT. So, if you plan to take the June LSAT, start studying in January or February.
