Admission to US Universities
I wanted to know, what considerations US universities look for when they provide admit to International students? What is the order of weightage of GRE, TOEFL, Undergraduate GPA, Social Work etc, while evaluating a student's' profile and what implication each one of them has in admission process? And, what approach international applicants should take while shortlisting universities (except financial or location constraints)?
- Kofi Kankam expert Abhijyot - GPA, GRE, Social work, and TOEFL are the general order for the evaluation with GPA and GRE/test scores being the dominant two. The one element after that point is the recommendations which you forgot. I think international students should take the same approach that national candidates take, but take into account the level of opportunity in their home countries if they plan to return "home" in the near future. Otherwise, elements like the ability to be well-placed professionally, financial aid, coursework and learning methodology, size, location, type of environment (urban, rural, college town, etc...) are kinds of things to keep in mind.
