Portfolio Advice - Day 1
Draw from observation.
We highly recommend that you portfolio includes work made from observation (from life). It’s a big part of foundation studies at RISD, and we want you to be able to highlight your skills and abilities.
Remember that there are many ways to draw from observation. It’s simply a tool to lead you to create something entirely new - it’s all about how you translate what you see. Whether it’s through mark making, materials or process, your observational drawing can become something much more than a straight forward still life.
