America's 25 Top Colleges With No Application Fees In 2015

How much should it cost to apply to college? At Stanford, which had an acceptance rate of just 5.05% for the class of 2019, the price is $90, the highest of any school on Forbes’ list of 650 top colleges. Other elite institutions aren’t far behind. Duke charges $85 as do Columbia and Boston University. Dartmouth, University of North Carolina‑-Chapel Hill, University of Southern California and Villanova all charge $80 for the privilege. Are those numbers fair, especially at a time when students are applying to ever-greater numbers of schools? Is there an alternative to shelling out all that money just to put in an application to a school where acceptance rates are depressingly low?
