How to start?
Hello! I'm applying to college and am starting my application this summer...but I'm having some trouble narrowing down what it is I should do first? Like, should I start with my personal statement? My essay? Asking for recommendation letters? #help #University

Great question @Bethany McDermott and you sparked me to think about writing a blog related to this. First to your question. Even though the common app is out and you can actually start it now, I wouldn't worry about the application just yet. It's the summer, so you should really make sure you've knocked out your SAT studying. Once you've done that, you should start really trying to narrow down your school choices, so you have a better sense for the schools you're going after - stretch, target and safe. Visit schools, ask questions (find students and alumni from your target schools on Admit.me - if you can't find them, let me know), and really get a sense for the different schools, campuses, etc. Take a look at the common app and begin to think about the things you need to put together for your application (I realize not all school use the common app, but it's a good place to start). Finally, start sketching out your story. What are you going to talk about in your essays? What makes you unique and what are you passionate about? There will be more information coming on this topic through our blogs and webinars, so stay tuned! Our admissions coaches can provide more specific help through the process should you need it. Let us know if you have any more questions - I hope that helps. #university #college
