Med school interviews
Hello, I'm getting ready for interviews for med school, and I'd love any advice on how to prepare for them. I've had interview experiences in the past, but it's my first time with med school. I'm wondering if there are any specific characteristics of med school interviews that I need to be aware of and how to best prepare myself for them? Seriously, any advice would help! Thank you.
- Ugochi Akoma alum Good question - I'm actually on the way to a surgery (the life a doctor :-), but I do want to answer your question in the short time I have and I'll come back and answer some more. First of all, be yourself. They are really looking to know about you and your passion for medicine. Think about why you want to go into this field. If you don't have the love for medicine, you won't be able to make it through the sleepless nights, endless studying and other nonsense that you will have to deal with to becoming a doctor. Sorry, I hope I didn't scare you :-) I love what I do, but the process to get here is not for the weak hearted nor is it for those that don't truly love medicine. Also, think through any clinical volunteer experience you have and what you learned from that. More later....on to (hopefully) successfully bring a new baby into this world - did I mention I love what I do.
